Downsizing and end-range flexion: one variable at a time

A single-user clinical case where sleeve size was the only variable changed, to separate habit from restriction.

clinical case

Situation

A transtibial user reported that the last part of knee flexion felt effortful when sitting down and cycling, while suspension was reported as secure.

What we changed

Sleeve size was increased by one step. Liner, socket, alignment and activity were kept unchanged.

What we observed

The user reported less resistance at end range and no loss of suspension over four weeks of daily use.

Method

Single user, self-reported outcome with a four-week follow-up. Size was the only variable changed between the two periods.

What this does not show

A patient case, not a general conclusion. Self-reported comfort is not a mechanical measurement.

Next step

Repeat the same protocol across a larger group with instrumented flexion measurement.
